Non-Matriculated Students

Non-Matriculated Student Definition

Students not formally admitted to Western Washington University through the Admissions' Application are considered non-matriculated students.

Individuals wanting to take courses at WWU without pursuing a degree or certification may enroll during the fall/winter/spring quarters by filling out the Special Student Enrollment Form.

Students must submit a completed Special Student Enrollment Form to the Registrar's Office (Old Main 230) 2-4 weeks prior to the start of the quarter. Students are required to submit the form prior to each quarter they wish to enroll in courses.

The Registrar’s Office will process all non-matriculated students and provide instructions on how to register for courses in a confirmation email, prior to the start of the quarter.

Note: Non-matriculated students cannot register until the first day of classes.

You must use the special student enrollment form if you are:

  • 60 or more years of age and eligible for WWU’s tuition/fee waiver program
  • A non-matriculated student wishing to take courses for credit
  • A non-matriculated student wishing to audit a course
